It’s no secret that the global lockdown is resulting in fresh bursts of creativity, and one such artist whose new music chimes with that experience is James Qupid. While reflecting on the pandemic and much maligned “new normal”, the West Palm Beach artist began cooking up a new beat as he hummed the melody to the chorus of ‘Holy Water’. The name itself has ties to Qupid’s formative years growing up in the church choir and this spirituality is key to his music. With roots in hip-hop, RnB and pop, ‘Holy Water’ is a fresh and playful twist on all these genres as James Qupid’s aim is to create something new to uplift listeners and “exude healing”, as he states.
